St Sunday Crag is a dominant ridge line towering over Ullswater and the Grisedale Valley. From Patterdale the route is via the quieter summits of Arnison Crag and Birks before heading along the airy ridge of the rocky north-west face to the summit of St Sunday Crag. From the summit the views over Helvellyn, Striding Edge, and down to Deepdale are stunning.

This is a challenging walk, in terms of ascent as there is a steep climb early in the walk, but the descent after the summit is nice and gradual. This walk is more suited for people with a medium + level of fitness as 5+ hours on your feet is a fairly long day out.

From Patterdale the trail heads up the summits of Arnison Crag and Birks before we reach the summit of St Sunday Crag. Depending on the weather we will either stop here for lunch and soak in the views or head down to Grisedale Tarn which is also a stunning place to rest our legs.

This is a circular walk so we will finish in Patterdale and then head to a nearby cafe / pub for a well deserved brew before we head off home.
