This is one of our favourite easier walks in the Lakes which we've done for years. It's really rewarding as you get to see some great views and stunning scenery, even though this is not classed as a high-level walk. We'll visit Loughrigg Tarn which is a beautiful place to stop for a flask of coffee and a relax.
We head out of Ambleside via the park to start our only real climb of the day to Loughrigg Fell which takes about 30 minutes, this is a short sharp climb on tarmac and gravel, so there's no scrambling up any rocks today - hooray. Once at the top, you will get some great views of the mountains and Lake Windermere.

From here we head downhill to Loughrigg Tarn, round to Rydal Water via Loughrigg Terrace and visit Rydal Cave before heading back to Ambleside.

We plan to finish the walk in one of the Ambleside chippies for anyone who fancies a late lunch before heading home.

FAQs

What should I bring? = walking boots, waterproofs, suncream, rucksack, 1 litre of water plus any sweets and nibbles you fancy. There's no need for a full packed lunch as we plan to eat in Ambleside if anyone fancies it afterward. But you can bring anything you want to eat on a 3 - 4 hour walk, don't let us stop you :)

Can I bring my dog? = Yes, but they will need to be on a lead the whole day.

What's the cost? = This walk is £25 per person, but 100% will be donated to the Alzheimer Society in memory of Martin's late father Bob, who lost his battle with the disease in 2019.

What's the group size? = Maximum of 12 for this walk.

How fit do I need to be? = Not very is the answer but you will need to be able to walk for 3 - 4 hours including a steep 30-minute climb up Loughrigg.
What pace will we walk at? = Don't worry we don't race around, this is a leisurely walk where we go at the pace of the slowest person/people.
